Barr Beacon SCITT is an Ofsted Outstanding provider of Initial Teacher Training with a thriving partnership of secondary and primary schools in the West Midlands and Warwickshire. We aim to develop the very best classroom practitioners who will go on to inspire, influence and shape the lives of future generations for years to come. This aim underpins everything about our training programme and we’re incredibly proud of what we do. Our aim is to develop teachers who are:

  • skilled and inspirational specialists;
  • confident and reflective practitioners;
  • effective communicators who can work in partnership;
  • informed intellectuals who promote a real love of learning;
  • resilient professionals able to demonstrate high standards of personal conduct.

At Barr Beacon SCITT we know what it takes to make a great teacher. We offer a well-established training, mentoring and professional development programme which leads to recommendation for QTS and a PGCE with the opportunity to gain up to 60 masters credits.

Ryders Hayes Teaching School was one of the first designated Primary National Teaching Schools in 2011. We deliver bespoke training and continuing professional development to hundreds of teachers and support staff across the region. This helps us to stay at the cutting edge of education: a number of our staff are experienced facilitators, trained to support other teachers in developing their classroom practice; train future leaders of education, and to provide school to school support.

Grow Our Own

We are passionate about recruiting the best teachers who want to make a real difference to children’s life chances. We pride ourselves on ‘growing our own’ and this is shown by our superb employment rates. Over the last three years, 100% of our trainees gained a position working in education. We’re really proud of the fact that the vast majority of trainees who train with us stay with us and join schools within our partnership or the local area.
